Udupi, Mar 24: Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha has ordered for closure of liquor outlets in the district till March 31.
A release from the office of the deputy commissioner states that several precautionary measures including those emphasizing hygiene practices to prevent spread of coronavirus were directed in the meeting of officers in the district as per orders from the government.
The Karnataka State Excise commissioner in Bengaluru has ordered for closure of CL-2 and CL-11C outlets in the state from March 21, 4 pm till March 31 midnight. All the excise outlets in the district were closed on March 22 due to Janata curfew.
“Therefore, as per the authority granted to me as deputy commissioner and district magistrate and as per excise law 1965 column 21(1), I order for closure of all CL-2 and CL-1(C) liquor outlets in the district from March 24 till March 31 midnight,” the DC stated in the press release.
