Byndoor, Mar 22: Buses, cars and other vehicles entering the district border near here were halted at Shiroor on Sunday March 22 and passengers were subjected to tests to detect symptoms of coronavirus.
The vehicles were coming from different places such as Mumbai, Goa, Dharwad and Belagavi.
The passengers were tested by officials of the health department, with assistance from the local gram panchayat and the police.
As the district was observing 'Janata Curfew', screening of passengers went smoothy. In total 14 buses were checked and 568 passengers were tested.
As per sources the officials detected symptoms in three persons. Two persons were taken to isolation centre in Kundapur and one was sent to Karkala isolation centre.
The vehicles were checked from early hours on Sunday, starting 4 am. The officials present were THO Nagbhushan Udupa, Byndoor SI Sangeetha, Dr Premanand, Dr Nagesh, Dr Umesh Naik, Dr Pratap, Dr Latha, Dr Vidya, Dr Sahana, Dr Gautham, Dr Ranjith, Dr Mahesh and RBSK staff.
The vehicles were allowed to resume their journeys only after screening. The vehicle screening will be continued with cooperation of the health department, revenue department, local panchayat members and police officials.
