Mangaluru, Mar 21: Expert College has shined once again in the national level with its proud student Shridhar Sanjay Shanbhag securing 2nd rank and also a total of 26 ranks in the prestigious all India level Kishor Vigyan Prothsahan Yojana (KVPY) examination conducted by the department of science and technology, Government of India.
The college bagged 8 ranks among the first 500 ranks, 16 ranks out of first 1000 ranks in the general merit category and 4 ranks among the first 150 ranks in the SC/ST category.
Apart from the 2nd rank in the general merit category, the following students qualified for the scholarship in the SC/ST category: Aditya umesh of Bengaluru (12th Rank), Dhiraj S Kori of Raichur (13th Rank), Supreeth Neelappa Bevoor of Dharwad (89th Rank) and Rakshita D Bhirade of Belagavi (132nd Rank). In general merit category-Shashank Y B of Mysuru (247th Rank), Bhuvan R J of Hasan (363rd Rank), Shreyas S of Kadur (365th Rank), Raj Aniketh Reddy V S of Bengaluru (370thRank), Ajay Kadri of Mangaluru (443rd Rank), Sumanth Jagadish Desai of Ballari (463rd Rank), H C Gourish of Shivamogga (493rd Rank), Adarsh Bevinakatti L of Bengaluru (589th Rank), Tejas R of Bengaluru (646th Rank), Varun Gowda A B of Bengaluru (884th Rank), Anush Babu Shetty of Udupi (982nd Rank), Ashutosh Prakash Kalyanshetti of Gokak (1126th Rank), Prerana G Bhat of Mangaluru (1195th Rank), Samyuktha Vinu Nair of Bengaluru (1262 nd Rank), Rishikesh N of Mangaluru (1288th Rank), Manzar Mohammed Hussain (1499thRank), Hithesh J P of Bengaluru (1512thRank), Prajwal D K (1625th Rank) and Kruthik K S (1660th Rank) have been qualified for the prestigious scholarship.
The achievement of the students in the all India level examination is commendable. It may be noted that Kishor Vigyan Prothsahan Yojana was started by Science and Technology department, government of India in 1999 with an objective of encouraging the students to undertake study and research in basic science streams. Under the scheme, the talented and eligible students are awarded with scholarship to the tune of Rs 1.2 lac per year for 5 years. These students are eligible to get into the prestigious educational institutions such as Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru; Indian Institute of Science Education and Research etc.
