Kasargod, Mar 20: Six people have been tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in Kasargod district on Friday, March 20. With this, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in the state has shot up to 40.
As a precautionary measure, government offices in Kasargod district will be shut down for a week. Shops will be open only between 11 am and 5 pm. Marriage functions are not allowed to be held.
The Kerala government had earlier announced a Rs 20,000 crore financial package to combat the outbreak of coronavirus in the state. The package includes Rs 500 crore to meet health-related requirements, Rs 2,000 crore for loans and free ration.
Meanwhile, Kasargod MLA NA Nellikunnu and Manjeshwar MLA MC Kamrudheen, both belonging to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), are on self-quarantine after they came in contact with a person affected with coronavirus.
