Bengaluru, Mar 20: City crime branch police on Friday, March 20, raided two godowns and seized fake sanitizers with Rs 56 lac. As many as 8,500 fake sanitizer bottles, 4,500 empty bottles, 280 litres of isopropyl alcohol and 4500 stickers were seized. Two accused were arrested.
The arrested has been identified as Raju alias Nagraju (43) resident of Kasturba Nagar Bengaluru and Chandan alias Laalchand (64) resident of Chamrajpet Bengaluru.
The accused own Jyothi Chemicals and Swathi and Co, in New Taragupet and Kasturba Nagar repectively in Bengaluru.
The accused were mixing 15 ml to 20 ml of brilliant blue colour and perfume content to 50 litres of isopropyl alcohol to convert it into 50 litres of hand sanitizer to be sold at the price of Rs 170, Rs 325, Rs 620 for 100 ml, 200 ml and 500 ml respectively in plastic bottles with their company sticker. The accused were distributing it to the market.
Isopropyl alcohol costs Rs 80 per litre, but the accused were selling it for a price 10 times more in the market.
Police have warned public of miscreants who are trying to misuse the coronavirus scare in the country to make quick money.
