Puttur, Mar 19: In an incident which occurred on Wednesday March 18, a person from Kambalabettu, Vittal, who had recently arrived from Dubai, got admitted into a private hospital in the town. However, he concealed his actual name and other information at the hospital, which gave rise to confusion and apprehension.
The person concerned had reached home on March 7. On Tuesday night, he suffered from fever and got admitted into a private hospital here. He only informed the hospital staff that he was suffering from cold and fever. It is claimed that he did not inform them about the fact that he had returned from Dubai, neither did he provide his actual name and address.
The doctors developed suspicion about him on Wednesday morning and called his home. They came to know that he had returned from Dubai. This information was passed on to the assistant commissioner here, after which the hospital was advised to take the patient to the district hospital at Mangaluru. Tahsildar of Puttur Ramesh Babu, and taluk health officer Dr Ashok Rai, visited the hospital and held consultations. An ambulance was arranged to carry him to the district hospital.
However, the patient who completed the discharge formalities went missing from the hospital. The staff checked the CCTV footage and found that he was taken away by his family members. Even as the hospital tried to find out the whereabouts of the person, they got the information that the he was taken to Vittal hospital and then to Wenlock. He informed the hospital staff there that he had come from Puttur.
In the meanwhile, the people were worried as the rumour about a patient with coronavirus symptoms going missing spread. Assistant commissioner Dr Yatish Ulal, said that extra care is being undertaken in respect of the said person.
