Kasargod, Mar 17: After finding that a youth who had travelled by Dubai - Mangaluru flight is coronavirus positive, the health department is trying to put together information about people with whom he might have come in contact with, to check them and also stop them from the prospects of further spreading the infection.
District collector, D Sajith Babu, has requested passengers who travelled by Air India Express IX 814 Dubai - Mangaluru flight that left Dubai on the night of March 13 and reached Mangaluru on March 14, to immediately contact the district control number. Telephone numbers to be contacted are, 9946000493, 9946000293.
Further, the district administration has also released a route map on how the guy travelled from the airport after alighting at Mangaluru International Airport to reach his hometown.
The health department and the district administration have been keenly observing the developments after another coronavirus positive case was found in the district. The health department will try its best to keep tab on everyone who came in contact with the infected youth so that they can be isolated and kept under observation to avoid further spread of this disease to others.
Family members of the youth have been kept under surveillance. More than 350 others are also being monitored. The care is particularly intense in the case of his friends, family members and those living in the immediate neighbourhood.
The health department is apprehensive about the chances of the infection spreading to others. The youth, who reached Mangaluru on March 14 morning, had travelled to the town by car. Information whether he had contacted anyone on the way and whether he had visited any hotels, is being pooled. The officials are also concerned about whether he had attended any programmes or functions during the intervening period.
The youth was being treated at home. After the laboratory report found that he i infected with the dreaded virus, the youth stands shifted to the isolation ward.
