Bengaluru, Mar 17: The pilot vehicle service extended to former chief minsters, leader of the opposition in the assembly Siddaramaiah, and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, has been withdrawn by the state government. It however has continued to extend the escort vehicle service to both the leaders as before.
Angered by the development, Siddaramaiah has requested chief minister, Yediyurappa, to continue to provide to him Z Plus security as before. Kumaraswamy, who is also incensed, wants to know why the security was withdrawn. He said that neither the city police commissioner nor the home minister is providing him explanation why the security was downgraded. He pointed out that his Z Plus security had recently been brought down to Z category and the Innova Crysta vehicle provided to him was taken back and replaced with a Scorpio vehicle that has already covered 2.61 lac km. He said that this vehicle has been developing snags now and then.
It is common practice to provide pilot and escort vehicle services to former chief ministers and leaders of the opposition by way of VVIP security. The pilot vehicles allotted to Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy were withdrawn all of a sudden without citing any reasons on Monday morning, it is gathered.
