Justice Ranganath Mishra was the Chief Justice of India when Chandrashekar government was in power and retired in 1911 when the Narasimha Rao government was in power. In 1998 almost 8 years after retirement he joined the congress and was elected to the Rajya Sabha member. He was elected and not selected by the government unlike Justice Gogoi within 4 months after retirement. In 1998 the government at the helm was the Vajpayee government.

Fake news as usual. Hidayathullah was never appointed to the Rajya Sabha. He was elected Vice President of India 7 years after retirement. ELECTED and no selected.
Justice Ranganath Mishra was appointed to the Rajya Sabha 8 years after retirement well beyond the recommended cooling period of 2 years as suggested for government servants.

Did people elect him? What about this?....There are at least two precedents to this situation - Justice Ranganath Misra in 1998 and Justice Baharul Islam in 1983. But in neither cases was the 'cooling-off' period, the time between demitting office and being appointed to another constitutional office, so brief. Of the two judges Justice Baharul Islam had a smaller cooling period. He retired as the CJI in January 1983 and was sent to Rajya Sabha in June 1983 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He had earlier also served as a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam for two consecutive terms from 1962 to 1972. Justice Islam got his third term as Rajya Sabha MP four weeks after he delivered a judgment absolving the then Chief Minister of Bihar Jagannath Mishra of all corruption charges in an urban cooperative bank scandal.

Hahaha. If you have problem with Hidayatullah and all the Vice President's being elected by the electoral college also object to the election of Bahiron Singh Shekawat and Venkaiah Naidu. They too were elected by the same process. Why not ask the same question in these two cases?

Now just recall some of judgments passed by Ranjan Gogoi as Chief Justice of India:

    1. Ayodhya Ramjanmabhoomi - favored temple
    2. Rafale scam - no investigation despite evidence.
    3. Triple Talaq
    4. Judge Loya’s murder investigation- no investigation despite evidence
    5. Kashmir Article 370 revocation - didn’t hear quoting other priorities
    6. Dismissed petition to constitute SIT to investigate attack on Kanhaiya Kumar
    7. Kerala’s Sabarmila temple

You can add the judgments to the list and now look at his nomination to the Rajya Sabha

CONgress has nominated 2 SC CJI as Rajya Sabha members with Dr Ranganath Mishra being prominent in 2005. Also KTS Tulsi was a SC Judge , there were no issues of quid pro quo then, then why now? Talk of dongi double standards

My friend you party begged and got votes saying that the Congress has messed up everything and therefore they wanted to change things. They were elected by the people to bring about that promised change. Therefore stop playing that same ridiculous tape saying that congress did that and congress did that. Yes, Congress did all those things which is why they were kicked out. Why are you now following in the footsteps of congress and making things even worse than before.

This is the same gentleman came out against BJP saying Democracy in danger. Once he appointed as a CJI how he become so corrupt-Because our PM met him in supreme court central hall and gave him the direction how he has to behave what should be Rafale verdict or else consequences will not be predicted. From then you cannot see any verdict against BJP Govt. and he himself handled several Govt of India cases and gave verdict in favaour of the Govt. It is a irony that Judiciary of India sold out to criminals.

A reward from Modi govt for favouring Rafale matter, the dismissal of Central Bureau of Investigation director Alok Verma, the Ayodhya matter, and several other key cases.

This is totally disgusting, a clear reward in quid pro quo . The semblance of independence of the judiciary is totally destroyed
