Puttur, Nov 19: In connection with the death of Rakshita (22), resident of Kalleri Janata Colony, Uppinangady, on October 25, which had been earlier recorded as accidental death, the policemen have now charged her brother, Anil, with murdering her by pushing her into the well of their residence.
The post mortem report had said that Rakshita had died due to drowning. As days passed, it transpired that Anil was angry with sister Rakshita, as she had become pregnant without marriage two years back. Thereafter, she was asked to live with her aunt in Kadeshwallya village, where she eked out a living by rolling bidis. However, she came back recently and refused to return to Kadeshwaallya. As Anil repeatedly insisted that she should go back to Kadeshwallya, fights broke out between the two routinely.
On October 25, when the two fought on this issue, Anil pushed Rakshita into the well and then went and stayed with his maternal uncle, Devappa. Devappa has filed a complaint with the policemen saying that Anil had killed Rakshita by pushing her into the well. Anil, who was produced in the court, was remanded to 15 days judicial custody by Beltangady court.
