Mangaluru: Konkani movie Nachom-IA Kumpasar to be screened on Sunday March 15

Mangaluru, Mar 13: World Konkani Centre, here, in association with Radio Sarang and Konkani Sangh, St Aloysius College is organizing a screening of the Konkani movie
Naachom-ia Kumpasar.

The movie directed by Bardroy Barretto is based on the legendary music composer Chris Perry and singer Lorna. The story is told through some 20 Konkani songs of the
1960s and 70s.

The movie is set in the 1960s and it is a tribute to the unsung Konkani musicians of that era.

The movie has won three national awards, 10 state awards and as many as 24 international awards around the globe, which is an unparalleled record for a Konkani movie.

'Nachom-ia Kumpasar' is a film made with great sincerity on a Rs 3.5 crore budget which was crowd-funded with over 140 people as co-producers who are relatives and friends of Bardroy Barretto.

The makers of this movie saw great success when it was released in Goa. After the initial success, the movie is being shown to Konkani audiences all around the world.

It is being screened for the first time in Mangaluru.

The movie will be screened on Sunday March 15 at LCRI hall of St Aloysius College and will have three shows – 10 am, 2 pm and 5.30 pm.
