Mangaluru, Mar 12: Corporation Bank celebrated its 115th Foundation Day at Fr Muller Conventional Center on Friday, March 12.
Guruharinath Rao, S Kumar, and Rajesh Kumar, general managers, Corporation Bank, inaugurated the celebrations along with Varma Vitaldas Leeladhar, former deputy Governor of RBI and K R Kamath, former chairman, Corporation Bank.
After the inauguration, the dignitaries offered floral tributes to bank founder late Khan Bahadur Haji Abdullah Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur.
In his welcome speech, Guruharinath Rao said, “The bank started in 1906 about 114 years ago with a motto prosperity for all. The bank in its 114 years of long journey carried forward the legacy and undaunted commitment following its vision. The bank which started functioning from the temple town Udupi with a first day business of 38 rupees 13 annas and 2 pies has grown into a premier public sector bank with a total business of over Rs 3 lac crore.
“The bank has conducted more than 115 CSR activities at various branches and zonal offices across the country. The bank always moves as per aspiration of its clients and well wishers. In the past, we proved it and on this Foundation Day, we are happy to tell it to all gathered here,” he said.
Three institutions were extended financial support by handing over cheques at the event. The beneficiaries were National Cadet Corps Group Headquarters, Mangaluru, for installation of shelter facilities for their canteen building, Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences to purchase a bus to extend mobile medical facilities to the doorsteps of village people and Sharada Dhanvantari Charitable Hospital, Sringeri, for purchase of medical equipment and other hospital furniture.
The event was followed by a musical evening by renowned singer Ajay Warrier and team. The singers enthralled the gathering with their performance. Team Sanathana Natyalaya, Mangaluru, presented classical dance performances.
Manjula Devi invoked God’s blessing with a prayer song. S Kumar, general manager, rendered the vote of thanks.
