Mar 8: Accidents and unexpected illness can disrupt life in unimaginable ways. The tragic story of Lalabi, a teenager struggling between life and death due to chronic renal (kidney) failure, is a grave example of how life can catch you unawares.
Lalabi Shameer Asangi is the eldest daughter of Jairabi, a housewife and Shameer, a local auto driver from Vijaypura. When Lalabi was in class 10, she developed fever all of a sudden. Her parents got her medicines from the local pharmacist and she got better in a few days. But one day, while she was returning home from her school, she fainted. Her parents and some of the neighbours rushed her to hospital. But the doctors who conducted initial examination of Lalabi’s illness could not detect the real problem.
On October 28, 2018, Jairabi and Shameer’s worst nightmare came true. Lalabi was diagnosed with chronic renal (kidney) failure. Since then, every day, the poor parents have been seeing their child inch closer to death, as they are unable to afford her life-saving transplant.
A series of tests revealed that both of Lalabi’s kidneys are completely damaged and the only way to keep her alive is a kidney transplant. It has been more than a year since the diagnosis, and Lalabi has been undergoing dialysis twice every week. Her grandmother wishes to donate her kidney to save her ailing granddaughter.
The doctors have said that if Lalabi does not get the transplant urgently, it would be very difficult to save her life. However, her father, who works as an auto driver, has no means to arrange the huge amount to save his daughter’s life. He is running pillar to post seeking financial help.
Teen Lalabi’s life is hanging by a thread. Without urgent help, she would lose her life, all her dreams and aspirations. This is her only chance to get back her life. Lalabi’s surgery and medical expenses will cost around Rs 8.5 lac.
The parents have requested kind-hearted readers of Daijiworld and donors to help them save their daughter's life. They believe generous assistance from readers would help them bear the exorbitant cost of the kidney transplant.
The family is in desperate need of financial support and prayers. Those who wish to help Lalabi may send their contributions to the following details:
