Bangalore, Nov 12: The state director general of police (DGP) is required to file an integrated report about the alleged operation of ‘Love Jehad’ in Karnataka on Friday November 13. It is learnt, that the state criminal investigation department (CID) has put together details like the sources of the racket, financial support, ways and means of affecting the religious conversions etc.
Six different superintendents of police have separately enquired into the existence of Love Jehad, by visiting places like Mangalore, Kasargod, Kannur, Chamarajnagar etc. All these reports will be clubbed together into a single report at the time of submission to the High Court. It is expected that the report will refer to a systematic racket operating to lure girls to get converted from other religions into Islam, although it might fall short of specifically identifying the existence of ‘Love Jehad’.
In the meantime, the Muslim Central Committee in Mangalore will be meeting on Thursday November 12, to adopt a resolution to condemn the allegations that Muslim organizations are involved with getting girls from other religions converted into Islam. Kerala unit of Peoples Union for Civil Liberaties has already announced its decision to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court, questioning the order of the Karnataka High Court to hand over Siljaraj, an adult woman, who had married a Muslim youth on her own accord, to her parents.
Some newspapers in Kerala have come out with details of the so called ‘Love Jehad’, like how it operates, how it is funded etc., even though the veracity of such reports can not be confirmed. Kerala High Court had earlier ordered the policemen there to submit a report on this aspect, and had thereafter, expressed its dissatisfaction over the ambiguous report put together by the policemen. Through an order issued three weeks ago, Karnataka High Court, while handling Siljaraj case, had ordered the DGP to submit a report on these activities, in consultation with their Kerala counterpart, within three weeks. Home minister, Dr V S Acharya too had instructed the CID to put together a report on these activities.
