Bangalore, Nov 12 (DHNS): Speaker Jagadish Shettar is likely to resign his post and become a minister in the Yeddyurappa ministry in next three days.
Souces said Shettar will resign a day before the swearing-in ceremony. He is likely to be sworn-in as minister by Saturday, sources added.
BJP national leader Venkaiah Naidu is said to have conveyed to Shettar that the high command wants him to join the ministry. He was, in fact, apprehensive that he will be branded as one among the Reddy camp and an opportunist.
So, he wanted at least three of his followers to be made ministers along with him, the sources added.
When Shettar was told by Naidu that the high command itself was keen that his services were required in the state government, he relented and agreed.
It is said the party central leadership is keen on making Law and Parliamentary Minister Suresh Kumar the next Speaker, while Deputy Speaker Bopaiah will manage for the time being.
