Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Mar 6: Students of government college Hebri held a protest in front of the college asking for action against the lecturers, who allegedly mentally tortured Charan Shetty (19), first BCom student of the institution, which forced him to commit suicide.

The classmates of deceased Charan Shetty are accusing the lecturers of the college of mentally torturing him. Charan Shetty had created ruckus on the College Day in an inebriated state. So the lecturers had taken him to task. In addition, Charan had also argued with the lecturers in the discussion that was held by the lecturers and principal with his parents. Later, there were arguments in the classroom also, after which, Charan was sent out of the classroom.

Charan, who was distraught with these developments, had called his classmates and said that he is committing suicide because of the insult and harassment meted out to him by the lecturers of the college. Students of the college held a protest in front of the institute on Friday, March 6 and urged the administration to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident. Though holiday was declared to the college on Friday, students kept the photo of deceased Charan Shetty and offered silent prayer during the protest.

The students also had arguments with the lecturers during the protest. Later, they filed a case against four people, including principal of the college.

Goes to prove that the Lecturers should not also become the college's Law Enforcement officers...

... that worked when the students had some fear of the elders.

The Colleges must appoint people skilled in handling the disrupting characters...

... Or get their parents to come up with solutions.

Charan Shetty had created ruckus on the College Day in an inebriated state. What do people expect from the college management.

To sit quietly and watch the scene.. common even the collage authority has to follow some disciplinary actions....

I think charan is very badly pampered and hence has taken this step. i have seen many kids of now a day gen who do not have control over their emotions because of too much pampering. Its not the college admin fault.. why protest... yes its really sad that he took this extreme step.. but he should know how to behave aswell...
