New Delhi, Mar 4: Even as Coronavirus has been making inroads into new territories, Kuwait has been keeping close watch on passengers coming into Kuwait from various countries including India. It has passed orders making it compulsory for inbound passengers to produce medical certificates from March 8 onward.
The director of civil aviation, Kuwait, passed this order on March 3. Passengers from India, Philippines, Bangladesh, Egypt, Syria, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Georgia and Lebanon have been asked to produce medial certificates confirming that the passengers concerned are Coronavirus-free.
These PCR certificates can be obtained from health centres approved by Kuwaiti embassy. These certificates should be attested at the Kuwaiti embassies located at Mumbai and New Delhi before proceeding to the Kuwait.
Some people who have come to India on holiday from Kuwait have to obtain this certificate if they plan to return after March 8. Getting the certificates attested is said to take about a week. Otherwise the passengers have to travel to New Delhi of Mumbai to get it done personally. This will eat up a few holidays, the NRIs working in Kuwait say. Some of them had come here by making use of national day holiday from February 25 to 27, as this was followed by Friday and Saturday, by applying some additional leave. They are in a dilemma now.
The number of people infected with Coronavirus in Kuwait has gone up to 56 now from 3 as on February 22. It is believed that the viruses would have made their way into Kuwait when rescuing Kuwaiti citizens infected with this virus from Iran.
As many as 56 persons found with this infection have been shifted to a resort at Khiran in Kuwait where doctors are treating them. Sources said that this resort will be off limit for others.
