Mangaluru, Mar 3: Saritha D’Souza, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, here was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by Mangalore University on its 38th Convocation held at Mangala auditorium of Mangalagangothri campus, Konaje, here on February 27. D’Souza had presented her PhD thesis on 'Working Conditions, Job Satisfaction and Social Life of Civil Police Constables of Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka; A Sociological Study’, in May 2019. She was successfully guided by Professor (Dr) Jogan Shankar, vice-chancellor, Kuvempu University, Jnana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga.
Saritha D’Souza is the daughter of Manvel D’Souza and Sevrin D’Souza and wife of Valvin D’Souza, manager, HDB Financial Service in the city. D’Souza basically hails from Andhagar village of Koppa taluk, Chikkmagaluru district until her schooling at GJC, Koppa. The rest of the studies were continued at Dakshina Kannada District till her postgraduation in Police Administration. She enrolled for a PhD programme at the postgraduate department of Sociology, Mangalagangothri, Konaje, after successfully completing the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and National Eligibility Test for Lectureship in Criminology conducted by University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi.
Her experience in teaching for about 12 years in the department of Criminology and Forensic Science has presently made her head the department since 2014. Late Dr B Ashoka, former head of the department was the eminent mentor behind the success of Dr Saritha D’Souza.
