Davanagere, Mar 2: St Aloysius College Harihar celebrated National Science day on February 28. The programme began at 3.30 pm at the college auditorium.
The guests for the day were Professor Ganesh K, Sunny Gudino, Principal of St Aloysius College, Fr Pradeep Sequeira Sj finance officer, Pushpalatha Urs and Princy Flavia Pinto vice Principals of St Aloysius College.
Programme began with a prayer song invoking the blessings from God. Master of the ceremony Soumya Clara S called upon Shema to deliver the welcome speech. The programme was inaugurated in an innovative way. Dilawar Sab from second PUC Science shared his views on National science day. He spoke about C V Raman and his contributions. Al Jaseena from the department of chemistry honoured the guests. Professor Ganesh K is working as an assistant professor in department of electronics and communication.
Prof Ganesh began his talk by thanking the management and youths of the college. Every sentence said by him was like a source of inspiration for the students.
Professor Ganesh said that once he asked a student ‘who are you’ and the student replied ‘I am the future of India’. He said to the students gathered in the auditorium that each and every one should be like that boy. You should be able to say that you are the future of India. He motivated the students by saying that ‘No matter which field you choose; you will be the master in that field’.
Prof Ganesh also shared one of his experiences. One day he went to a school for a programme. There was a kids’ show and he saw a little girl had made a Rainbow and was explaining about it. Professor Ganesh was shocked to see her knowledge. He went and asked that girl ‘Why does Rainbow appear in the sky?’ The girl explained the same which she was explaining before. He repeated his question this time one boy who was sitting next to him came near and said “Rainbow comes to make children happy”. After listening to this he could not even deny it. He started thinking about the innocence of children.
“Inventions happen when you invite yourself,” said Professor Ganesh. He encouraged the girls to take up their career in science. He also said, “Curiosity and Commitments like children is very important for invention.”
The talk by Prof Ganesh was followed by prize distribution for the students who won the competitions which was conducted on the occasion of the Science Day. Ramyashree, lecturer from the department of Mathematics distributed the prizes to the winners.
Sunny Gudino principal as well as lecturer in chemistry of St Aloysius college shared his views. He said everyone should have young minds filled with curiosity. He enlightened the students with his words.
Fr Pradeep Sequeira Sj addressed the gathering and said, “We should think out of box for the scientific discovery.”
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Swaroop of second PUC Science.
