Puttur: Puttur Aquatic Club swimmer wins first Khelo India medal for DK

Puttur, Feb 28: Swimmer, Suhas P M, a member of the Puttur Aquatic Club made Dakshina Kannada proud by being the first medal winner at the first edition of Khelo India University Games conducted on February 24 by the Government of India this year at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Suhas won two silver medals in 400 metre freestyle (time: 4:29:67) and in 200 metre butterfly (Time: 2:14:82).

This is a prestigious national-level competition conducted by the Government of India for the university students for the first time.

Suhas is a 3rd year Computer Science engineering student from Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology, Puttur affiliated to Vishvesharayya Technology University, Belagavi.

Suhas is coached by coach Partha Varanashi, coach Niroop, coach Rohit and by coach Yajnesh at the Dr Shivarama Karantha Balawana Swimming Pool, Puttur and at St Aloysius Swimming, Pool, Mangaluru. He is the son of Dr Mahesh Babu and Dr Gayatri, Manchi.
