Udupi: Two-wheeler rider plunges into ditch at Santhekatte underpass construction site

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Oct 29: A two-wheeler rider suffered injuries after plunging into a ditch at the underpass construction site in Santhekatte.

The incident occurred when the rider lost control near the underpass and became trapped between the service road and the safety wall, surrounded by hazardous open spaces left by ongoing work.

This incident highlights growing safety concerns as the second phase of underpass construction progresses. Reports indicate that contractors have removed the safety sheets that were initially placed along both sides of the road.

With the area now fully exposed and vehicles actively navigating the adjacent service roads, the absence of safety barriers significantly increases the risk of accidents for both motorists and pedestrians.
