Mangaluru, Feb 26: Responding to the statement made by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel that Congress are unfit to be in opposition, former Minister Ramanath Rai that BJP is unfit to run government.

Addressing media here on Wednesday, February 26, Ramanath Rai said, "Congress has always stood with those who are denied social justice. We have lost and come back to power earlier. Congress is the party which is indestructible. Congress has always been with the poor, introducing several schemes which have been effectively
implemented in the district.

"BJP are unfit to run the government as there are several examples for it. Illegal mining in 60% of Bellary's reserve forest was a serious offence. We all know who went to jail in the case. History was created when those who went to jail were given minister’s post.

“BJP claims that Congress is jobless. We should all know who gave job to these people. They got job due to Operation Kamala, money power and power at the centre. Congress has done good work in most of the constituencies. Congress has contributed airport, MRPL, NMPT, but BJP are privatizing it.

“It is wrong to insult Congress. Yes, we agree that we lost. There was a time when we had seven MLAs in the district. In the coming days, we will bounce back. They came to power by intoxication of religion. Now they are intoxicated with power,” he said.

District Congress president Harish Kumar, corporator Naveen D’Souza, Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.
