Krishnagiri, Feb 23: In an interesting development, slain forest brigand Veerappan's daughter Vidya Rani has joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

She was among a thousand others who joined the saffron party in a programme held at Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu on Saturday February 23.

Members from other parties including the PMK were welcomed into BJP by party's national secretary P Muralidhar Rao.

Vidya Rani (29) said that she was 'inspired' by the development works and welfare schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and hence decided to join the BJP.

"Ever since my meeting with former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan two years ago, when he asked me to join the party and serve the people, I have been contemplating this move," Express News Service quoted her as saying.

Vidya further said that she "wants to uplift people through education, irrespective of their caste and religion."

Vidya has been running a tuition centre in Krishnagiri for the past one year to support students from all walks of life.

Now citizens can understand why our banks are looted and economy of nation is crumbling.

Not a BJP supporter or a fan of Veerappan. My best wishes are with this young lady Vidya Rani.
Its a good move from the party to nurture youngsters and give them a chance to perform. If she delivers ,she may contest elections. We have to appreciate such positive steps of our opposition as well and learn from it. Had it been in Congress she would been hired as a booth level worker to canvass and shout slogans at the top of her voice during elections for the likes of ' never retiring ' Siddu , Poojari, Ramanatha Rai etc. This is the irony.
