Mangaluru, Feb 22: Muslim Ikyatha Vedike led by former mayor K Ashraf will hold protest against the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Natioanl Population Register (NPR) at Tipu Sultan Garden, Kudroli, on February 25.
Addressing media here on Friday, February 21, president of Muslim Ikyatha Vedike K Ashraf said, "There has been widespread protest in the entire country against CAA, NRC and NPR. People are coming down to the streets to raise voice against the Act. There is no need to prove citizenship of Muslim community members who sacrificed their lives for independence of the country from the British.
“There is a need to warn the central government against the implementation of the Act which is anti- people, anti-constitution. The Act is dividing people on the grounds of religion. In order to seek attention of the state government demanding judicial probe into the police firing incident, we will hold massive protest on February 25 at Tipu Sultan Garden at Kudroli.
“MLA U T Khader, president of Muslim Central committee Mohammed Masood, Swamiji of Urilinga Peddhimata Mysuru, Jnanaprakash Swamiji, Ra Chintan, Sudheer Kumar Maroli, Nazma Nazeer, Iliyas Thumbe, H I Sufiyan Sakafi , K M Iqbal, A K Kukkila, M G Mohammed and family of deceased Nausheen and Abdul Jaleel will take part in the protest,” he said.
‘We condemn pro-Pakistan slogans’
“We condemn pro-Pakistan slogans raised by Amulya Leona Noronha at Freedom Park in Bengaluru. She was part of anti-CAA protest on February 25 and her name was printed in the invite. We have struck her name out and reprinted the invite. We will not support anyone who raises pro-Pakistan slogans,” he said.
Muslim Ikyatha Vedike general secretary Abdul Azeez, treasurer Maqbool Ahmed, vice president B Aboobakkar, Fazal Mohammed and others were present.
