Mangaluru, Feb 19: Harekala Hajabba, who is well-known for building a school by the money which he earned by selling oranges. Recognizing his selfless service to the society, he was honoured with Padma Shri award also.
Now, it is being said that Harekala Hajabba is being used for anti-CAA propaganda.
An anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) programme is going to be held in one of the star hotels of Udupi on Thursday, February 20. The organizers have decided to inaugurate the same through Harekala Hajabba. It is learnt that the organizers have not told Hajabba the agenda of the programme. It is said that wrong information is conveyed to Hajabba while inviting him to the event. This has irked many people who hold Hajabba in high esteem.

When Hajabba was asked about this issue, he said that the he does know what the event is all about. Social worker Ansar Ahmed has given a statement that Harekala Hajabba is indeed invited for the anti-CAA event.
Many people, cutting across party lines and religions, who hold Hajabba in high esteem, are of the opinion that this programme will tarnish the secular image that Hajabba carries with him. According to these people Hajabba is a role model who is not limited to any subject. So they say that Hajabba should not have been invited to such controversial event.
