Chikkaballapur, Feb 16: In what may come as an embarassment to the BJP, the party's own central minister Sadananda Gowda has opined that the enforcement directorate (ED) should raid Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence.
"Whenever the enforcement directorate (ED) conducts raid, people term it political vendetta. So ED should conduct raid on all the politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Gowda said.
Gowda made this statement during a discussion with farmer leaders of the district at the tourist bungalow of Chintamani city here.
Gowda further said, "If people are given sumptuous lunch or dinner, they vote for that particular candidate. Is there opportunity for an honest politician who does not have money power? In addition, the politician who has spent crores on election will recover that with interest during his term. But it is not like this throughout the country. However, it is sad that Karnataka is number one in this matter. It is time for people of the state to wake up.
"Politics has become a business. Our party is also involved in the same. There are only 25% people who are righteous in politics. But they also get contaminated along with the other 75%, who are already corrupt. That is why the ED should conduct raid on all the politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
