Mangaluru, Feb 10: State director general of police (DGP) Praveen Sood, visited the city on Sunday February 9. He held meeting at the office of the city police commissioner with the participation of western range inspector general of police (IGP) and city police commissioner. He gathered information about the law and order situation in the region and reviewed steps taken to maintain peace.
He checked investigations conducted so far into the incident which happened during the December 19 protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act in the city. He asked the officers to take care to ensure that such a situation does not recur anywhere else in the coming days. He wanted the policemen to find the anti-social elements and take steps against them as per law. He also is learnt to have laid emphasis on the need to crush the drugs menace.
Inspector general of police Arun Chakravarthy, city police commissioner Dr Harsha P S, Udupi superintendent of police Vishnuvardhan, Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police Laxmi Prasad, and deputy commissioners of police Laxmi Ganesh and Arunagshu Giri, were present.
