Mangaluru, Jan 31: St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT), St Aloysius College (Autonomous), on January 29 organized a talk by Prof Rajendra Chenni, Kuvempu University on the theme 'Message of Gandhiji for the youth of today'.
Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director, AIMIT, addressed the gathering wherein he spoke about the principles Gandhiji stood by and how kindness, truth and non-violence were life's mantras and that he lived a simple life.
Prof Rajendra Chenni, former professor of English at Kuvempu University and who is presently Director, Manasa Centre for Cultural Studies, Shivamogga was the guest speaker. In his address, he conveyed a message that the youth of today should focus more on the principles of Gandhi and live their life accordingly. He highlighted some of the salient aspects of Gandhiji’s life wherein he stood for creating a culture of democracy, resistance through non-violence and a critique of the systems of power.
Lestan D’Souza, campus minister, who organized the programme, proposed the vote of thanks.
Weeklong programmes were organized to celebrate the Constitution Day by organizing a Quiz competition on the Constitution of India; a Poster competition on Communal Harmony, essay competition on role of youth towards building a harmonious society.
On February 5, the MBA department will organize Sanjeevini, a blood donation camp.
