Bengaluru, Jan 30: The officials probing Gulam Mustafa's antecedents are shocked to realize that he was the follower of a Pakistan-based religious outfit. Gulam, a native of Haryana, has been arrested relating to running a fake railway e-ticket sales racket.
The officials have learnt that Mustafa was a follower of Tablighi Jamaat, a Pakistan-based religious organization. The police therefore automatically suspect that he would have had monetary transactions with this outfit, and are trying to find out details.
The officials, during the verification of laptop seized from Gulam Mustafa, have found a large number of telephone numbers belonging to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Gulf countries etc. They believe that Mustafa would have transferred money to terrorist organizations in these countries.
There are also suspicions that the fake e-ticket racket involving crores or rupees would have had the backing of big brains. The officials are confident of tracking and arresting them. The officials have also sought from banks, details of transactions put through by Mustafa in accounts he held in two banks, one at Peenya, and the other at Bagalakunte.
In the meantime, city police commissioner Bhaskar Rao, has passed an order, transferring case relating to cyber terrorists, Gulam Mustafa's, from central crime branch to Anti Terrorist Squad. Gulam currently is in the custody of Rajagopalnagar police.
