Bengaluru, Jan 27: Former Prime Minister of India H D Deve Gowda, has urged the central government to reconsider and review its stand on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Speaking after taking part in the Republic Day function organized in the state JD(S) office on Sunday January 26, Gowda stressed that fight against CAA will continue. "We will continue our protests in a non-violent manner as per the path preached by Mahatma Gandhi. Already some states have decided against implementing CAA. There is also a demand to scrap this act. The recent decisions of the central government are harming the national interests. We should not forget that each action will have an equal and opposite reaction," he opined.
Deve Gowda also said that the aim of the BJP to turn India into a Hindu nation will not be fulfilled. "Several BJP leaders had in the past, tried to achieve this aim, but failed. Now Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and union home minister Amit Shah, have come with the agenda of transforming India into a Hindu nation. This is a dangerous development," he stated.
MLA T A Sharavana, and several JD(S) leaders were present.
