Mangaluru, Jan 23: As preparation for the annual parish feast of Valencia Church, the Confraternity Sunday (Compricho Aithar) was celebrated on January 19.
All the parishioners got together in huge numbers on this blessed day. The Eucharistic celebration began with Fr Joseph Lobo, the parish priest of Our Lady of Miracles church Milagres as the main celebrant. As the year 2020 is declared as the year for respect to human life, Fr Joseph Lobo in his preaching invited the faithful to respect human life in our day-to-day life.
The co-celebrants were Fr James D’Souza, Fr Joswin D’Souza, Fr Arun Lobo.
After the mass, the Holy Eucharist adorned in a gold-coloured monstrance and mounted on a decorated vehicle was taken in procession from Valencia church to Holy Rosary Convent Jeppu. The brass band played devotional hymns which uplifted the beauty of the procession. The special attraction of the procession was the use of eco-friendly placards in the procession to promote a plastic-free environment.
After the procession, the parishioners assembled at the Holy Rosary Convent to participate in the benediction that was again led by Fr Joseph Lobo.
The entire proceeding of Confraternity Sunday displayed immense faith of the parishioners.
