Moodbidri , Jan 22: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, is conducting its Annual NSS Special Camp at Govt Higher Primary School, Puttige, Moodbidri, which was inaugurated by Umanatha Kotian, MLA of Moodbidri constituency.
In his inaugural address, he said that participants should utilize the opportunity of attending the camp by learning from the surrounding environment. He went onto say that the experience they receive from the camp will help them to lead their life successfully.
He mentioned that student days are the most important days in life and inculcating the skills of working hard will surely lead to success in life.
Sri Adigal Anantha Krishna Bhat, priest at Shree Somanatheshwara Temple, Puttige, showered blessings on the gathering by praying for the success of the camp.
K P Sucharitha Shetty, zilla panchayat member of Dakshina Kannada district was the chief guest at the inaugural. He said that the present young generation is the future force of the country. He called upon the students to identify local problems and help the local community by providing technical solutions.
Dr Rio D’Souza, principal of SJEC, while congratulating the students for participating in the camp, said that along with offering service during the camp, the participants also must also learn from their experiences.
Rev Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director of SJEC, in his presidential address said, students should follow the principles of being human before anything else. While wishing for the success of the camp, he thanked the authorities for giving the opportunity to organize the camp in the school.
Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, assistant director of SJEC, Rakesh Lobo, HR manager of SJEC, Rajesh K, coordinator of NSS Unit at SJEC and Ajithanjaya Kumar MK, chairperson of the Community Group at SJEC were also present on the occasion.
The six-day camp is being organized by SJEC with able support from the team comprising of faculty members and students of the college.
