Mangaluru, Jan 21: The golden jubilee celebrations of Our Lady the Queen of the Universe Church, Ranipura was held at the church premises.

The programme was set in motion after holy mass. Mangaluru diocese ICYM director, Ronald Prakash D’Souza released balloons and inaugurated the programme.

Mangaluru diocese vicar-general, Fr Maxim Noronha, youth director Fr Ashwin Rohit Cardoza, south zone youth director Fr Michael D’Souza, central committee president Leon Saldanha, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy former president Roy Castelino, Rushivana director Fr Alfred Menezes, Ranipura church parish priest Fr Santhosh D’Souza, Sr Meena B S, deacon William D’Souza, vice-president Navin D’Souza and secretary Wilma D’Souza were the guests.

Mangaluru diocese, Bishop emeritus Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza presided over the hall programme. He called on the youth to indulge in the mainstream of society and work for its progress. Those who served as presidents during the last fifty years were honoured. A souvenir titled ‘Bangralin Paulan’ was released in memory of the golden jubilee. ICYM Ranipura president Sanil D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Golden jubilee festival convener Fevisha Monteiro rendered the vote of thanks.

Secretary Sonu D’Souza read the list of past presidents. Flarvisha Monteiro, Fevita Lobo and Carrol D’Souza read the report of the past fifty years. Winners in the different competitions held on the occasion of the golden jubilee were presented prizes. Band Charita Group performed an entertainment programme after the hall programme. Nellu Permannur group performed a comedy skit. Royston D’Souza and Renita Figredo compered these programmes.
