Davanagere, Jan 21: M P Renukacharya, MLA and political secretary to chief minister B S Yediyurappa, has pledged to ‘saffronise’ Honnali and Nyamathi twin taluks in the district, and to keep Muslims under check. He also said that in addition, he will divert grants meant for Muslim areas to Hindu areas. "I will treat individual groups on merit and keep distance wherever needed. I do not need support of such people," he added.
Speaking at Honnali town on Monday where a huge meeting was organized to congratulate Prime Minster, Narendra Modi, and union minister, Amit Shah for implementing Citizenship Amendment Act, he noted that leader of the opposition, Siddaramaiah, former minister, D K Shivakumar and others have been terming BJP as communal. "The real communal are these people," he stated.
"You conducted caste census. You were the ones who created split between Veerashaiva and Lingayat communities. You are communal in real sense. Neither Siddaramaiah, nor Shivakumar, have the moral right to speak about the BJP," he said, directing his ire at the Congress leaders.
"In many mosques, instead of offering prayers, they collect arms and ammunition. Do you need mosques for such purposes? Are sowing seeds of terrorism, collecting guns, and putting together lethal weapons your culture? Do you expect us to be mute spectators of what you engage in?" he wanted to know.
He recollected that Congress MLA U T Khader, has termed the two who died in Mangaluru firing as innocents. "Do you think India has to host them like sons-in-law? If you have received money from Pakistan, please hand the same over to the families of the deceased. We are not objecting," he said.
Renukacharya said that the post of the leader of the opposition is vacant in the Congress. He noted that Dinesh Gundu Rao had fled after resigning as the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. Even after three months, no one has been posted in this place. This is the situation the Congress is going through now, he analysed.
