Moodbidri, Jan 20: A Center of Excellence of Japanese Language & Culture was inaugurated at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE), here in association with Silverpeak Global Ltd (SPG) on January 20 by the Director of Silverpeak Global, Vinay N.
The center is a first of its kind established in the country by Silverpeak Global and will provide an integrated course schedule of learning Japanese language and Japanese culture by experts from SPG. The Center of Excellence intends to train students to achieve linguistic competence and proficiency to clear JLPT N5, N4 and N3 while they graduate and thus start their career in Japan at prestigious companies.
This is yet another feather to the cap adorned by MITE and would open huge avenues for students, add diversity and would enable students to appreciate diverse languages and cultures, said Dr C R Rajashekar inaugurating the CoE. Vinay appreciated the institution for constantly striving to expand global and industry connect. The center will not just be limited to language training but will act as a catalyst to connect the best graduates from this region to Japan and will open doorways for mutual understanding and investments, he added. Radhika Shreeraman, head - Japanese Language, SPG who has over 20+ years of expertise in Japanese Language Training gave an outlay of the programme offered by the CoE to the students. Rajesh Chouta, chairman, MITE acknowledging the connection with SPG said that the CoE will add immensely to competence building and hence will aid the students to become global citizens and create alleyway of opportunities.
MITE, which has been a pioneer in providing quality technical industry oriented Engineering education and has made a mark in Engineering education and also has been providing the students the employment opportunities with major global corporations. To accomplish this, MITE has previously tied up with industry giants like SIEMENS, Bosch Rexroth, Carl Zeiss, Infosys and Global universities like Binghamton, New York, ITE West Singapore and Kumamoto University, Japan.
The training:
The intensive Japanese Language Proficiency Training Programme for the First batch at the MITE Center of Excellence has 40 students from MITE and will be conducted by Ihara faculty - Japan and Radhika Shreeraman who are the language experts from SPG. The special training module designed by SPG will have classroom training, activities, online training, regular evaluation and one-to-one counselling.
Dr Divakar Shetty, dean (academics) briefed the students about the global relevance of acquiring language competence. Narendra U P, dean (T&P) compered the programme. Tej Kumar, director (operations) and Sanju Lokesh, VP (operations) of Silverpeak Global were also present at the programme.
