Mangaluru, Jan 18: The NSS unit of Milagres College, Hampankatta, here, celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day on January 17.

Prof Lourdusamy, academic advisor, Cassin Rodrigues, vice-principal, Denzil E Pinto, NSS Programme Officer and student representatives offered floral tributes to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda.

Prof Lourdusamy said Swami Vivekananda Jayanti was celebrated all over the country as National Youth Day. Vivekananda also believed that the country’s future depends on its people particularly the youth and his teachings focused on human development. He also mentioned the thoughts and life of Swami Vivekananda. Thereafter, Prof Lourdusamy administered the pledge to the students.

Denzil E Pinto welcomed the gathering, Princita J D'Souza, assistant Program Officer, proposed the vote of thanks. Michelle, NSS student volunteer compered the programme. A total of 124 students were present.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
