Mangaluru, Jan 17: The department of Hindi in association with Hindi Sangha of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), here organized an intercollegiate Hindi fest ‘Prerana 2020’ on January 14 at LCRI Hall.
Varun K Shetty, Lakshmishyam Developers, Udupi, inaugurated the programme. Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, principal, St Aloysius College presided over the programme. Dr Mukunda Prabhu, HOD Hindi Department, Mehaboobali Nadaf, convenor of the programme, Dr Dennis Fernandes, director, admin block, president of Hindi Sangha, Roicy Rekha Braggs, President of Dance & Drama Sangha, Ms. Sandhya U Sirsikar and Secretary Mr. Mohammed Sinon were on the dais.
Varun K Shett enlightened the students with his words of wisdom. He appreciated the organizers for arranging such a wonderful programme. He explained the importance and advantages of Hindi as a national language and urged the students to learn more about Hindi as well as Hindi literature.
Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ in his presidential address shared his views on Hindi. He wished the student participants for the competitions and urged them to continue the spirit of learning more of the National language.
Dr Dennis Fernandes expressed his views on Hindi and literature.
During the inaugural programme of 'Prerana 2020', a magazine was unveiled by the guests.
After the inaugural, various competitions were conducted. The overall trophy was bagged by Poornaprajna College, Udupi and Runners Up trophy by St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru.
The valedictory ceremony commenced at 3.30 pm. Ambarish Kumar Singh, Corporation Bank, Mangaluru was the chief guest and rendered a heart-warming speech. Dr Alwyn D’Sa, director, admin block, St Aloysius College presided over the function.
Monika compered the programme. Dr Mukunda Prabhu welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Onam proposed the vote of thanks.
The hard work and dedication put in by the lecturers, students of the Hindi department and the Hindi sangha to organize 'Prerana-2020' turned out to be a successful and well-organized effort.
