Udupi, Oct 1: The office- bearers of Mumbai-based Jayashrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (JSKPPS), a NGO striving for the development of undivided Dakshina Kannada district visited the site of Udupi Power Corporation (UPC), at Nandikoor, near here recently.
Andhra Pradesh based Nagarjuna Power is setting up the plant at the neighbourhood of Nandikoor near Padubidri here. JSKPPSW sought at least 50% of jobs for local residents in power project.
JSKPPS founder Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, president Vishwanath U Mada, vice-presidents Dharmapal U Devadiga, Felix A D’Souza and K P Jagadish Adhikari were present.
UPC chief D K Jain explained about the progress of the project and announced that the first phase of project was likely to start in February 2010.
