Mangaluru, Jan 14: The final day of the Novena at Infant Jesus Shrine was dedicated to the Religious and Missionaries.

‘Walking in truth knowing who we are, is the essential ingredient of true prayer life’ was topic of the day. The great reformer and Doctor of the church, St Teresa of Avila’s life was commemorated and her theme of life ‘God alone suffices’ was elaborated in each sermon. The final Mass was celebrated by the Provincial of Karnataka Goa Carmelite Province Fr Charles Serrao OCD and preached by Fr Wilfred Rodrigues OCD, the superior and rector of Infant Jesus Shrine. Bajjodi parishioners led the choir.



Fr Pius James, episcopal vicar of Religious, led a consecration prayer which was repeated by all religious. The heads of different committees for the smooth running of the feast were honoured. Later, Fr Charles blessed the grotto of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

All the Carmelites with lighted candles were led in procession to the grotto and they sang the traditional Salve Regina in Latin honoring Mother Mary. Fr Prakash thanked all and sought the cooperation of everyone for the success of three days festivities.
