Mangaluru: National Youth Day celebrated at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Jan 11: The department of Political Science, Economics and NCC of St Agnes College (Autonomous), here, celebrated National Youth Day 2020 at the college
campus.

National Youth Day (Yuva Diwas or Swami Vivekananda's birthday) is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in India every year on January 12. It is celebrated to
commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, maker of modern India. Mahesh Nagesh Nayak Rtd Commander of Navy and Rahul Shinde, (IAS) Thahasildar of Puttur were
the chief guests of the programme. Sr Dr M Jeswina AC, principal of St Agnes College was the president of the programme.

Cdr Mahesh Nagesh Nayak said, "It is the aim of great importance of distributing the ideas and ideals of Swami Vivekananda among the youth of India. It is a great way to wake up the eternal energy of the youth as well as their big efforts to make the country developed."

Rahul Shindhe, IAS quoted Swami Vivekananda's words, 'Arise, awake and stop not until the goal is achieved'. He also motivated the students to take part in all the
activities of the country and to have a positive attitude in life.

Sr Dr M Jeswina AC in her presidential address enlightened the students on the responsibility of the youth for a better tomorrow. Staff, students of various streams, NCC cadets were the vibrant audience of the programme.
