Mangaluru: Meeting over merger of Suratkal, Hejamady tollgates tomorrow

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 5: A meeting is being convened at New Delhi on Monday, January 6 to consider the issue of merger of Suratkal tollgate on national highway 66. The meeting will be chaired by the chairman of the National Highways Authority (NHAI) of India. NHAI regional project director here and senior officials of Navayuga will be participating in the meeting.

The department has taken the initiative to hold this meeting because of incessant pressure exerted by protesters. If Navayuga is agreeable, the Suratkal tollgate will get merged with Hejamady tollgate and the highway will be maintained by Nayayuga.

If the merger happens, it is as yet unclear whether the toll fee will go up by adding up fees payable at the two gates, and whether the concession extended for KA 19 registration vehicles at Suratkal tollgate will be extended at Hejamady too.
