Bangalore, Sep 19: Christian Employees Movement (CEM), Christian Workers Centre, Nandidurga Road here, organized ‘XVI Excellence Awards Presentation - 2009’ function on Friday September 18, at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral Parish Hall, Cleveland Town in the city, at 3 pm. This function was exclusively organized to honour the best teachers and student toppers in SSLC and ICSE examinations, from within the Archdiocese.
Bangalore Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras presided over the function, whilst Rtn S Jayaraman, chairman, 'Sankya,' was the chief guest.
The Archbishop and the VIPs were accompanied by the school band to the hall. This was followed by an invocation and welcome dances by various groups, besides lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
R Ignatius, president of CEM, introduced the dignitaries to the audience. Fr Adolf Washington, animator, briefed about the achievements of the toppers.
SSLC topper Shirley Akhila from St Charles High School and ICSE topper Naomi Raphael from St Frances Xavier’s Girls High School, were bestowed with the Rolling trophies, while June David from St Charles High School was given the ‘Best Teacher’ award.
The hall was packed with students, teachers, parents and well wishers, who applauded the recipients to their hearts content.
Abraham Bosco compered the programme in a befitting manner. The programme concluded at 6.45 pm with high tea, leaving everyone with smiles. The day was especially cherished by the toppers, other recipients and their families.
