Bengaluru, Dec 31: BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, accused a section of leaders of purposefully covering up truth about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) even though the act is lucid, with the aim of purposefully creating controversy. He was speaking at a special symposium for MLAs and MPs organized at the BJP office at Malleshwaram here on CAA on Monday December 30. "It is crystal clear that this act was brought into force to grant citizenship. But there are people who incite innocent people to get involved with violence in the name of protests against CAA.
"People are sowing seeds of distrust about the very purpose of this act, in order to whip up religious sentiments. In the past too this act was amended a few times but no discussions about them were held in the parliament. It is inhuman to oppose the CAA which aims at giving citizenship to our own people belonging to religious minorities who have migrated here because of harassment and atrocities they went through in our neighbouring countries," he felt.
Ram Madhav said that thousands of people from Bangladesh are now in Karnataka and they have not got any government facilities so far. He said that the act does not propose to deny citizenship to anyone and condemned efforts being made to give rise to a sense of fear in the minds of the Muslims about this act.
