Udupi, Dec 31: A young college student who was hired to cut down bamboo groves was found lying in unconscious state in a rivulet. His father has complained to the police, expressing the suspicion that this could be a case of murder.
Avinash (20), son of Ishwar R M from Arehalli near Kammaradi in Thirthahalli taluk was a second year BCom degree student of Poornaprajna College here. He used to stay in a rented room, and worked as a Zomato delivery boy during spare time. On December 29, he along with a friend, Srikanth, was cutting down bamboo grove. Srikanth claimd that upon returning from lunch break, he found that Avinash had gone missing. He stated that on a detailed search with the support of locals, he found Avinash lying in an unconscious state in Gundalu rivulet in Pejamangur village. He said Avinash was provided first aid in a clinic at Kokkarne before being taken to Manipal hospital but the doctors there declared him brought dead.
The father of the deceased student expressed suspicion about the veracity of Srikanth's claim that Avinash would have fallen into the rivulet accidentally. He suspects possibility of his son having been pushed into the rivulet by Srikanth.
Brahmavar police, who have register a case, are investigating.
