Moodbidri: Training programme on 'Outcome Based Education and NBA Accreditation' inaugurated

Moodbidri, Dec 30: A Five-day training programme on 'Outcome Based Education and NBA Accreditation' was inaugurated by the department of Civil Engineering, Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE), Moodbidri, and sponsored by TEQIP 1.3 Cell in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University”, Aryabhata Knowledge University, Patna Bihar and Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha, on Monday, December 30. 

The training programme was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Shanmuganeethi V, NITTR, Chennai, and he focused on the importance of outcome based education and NBA Accreditation in Technical Institutions.

Guest of honour, Dr H R Shivakumar, special officer, VTU Extension Centre, Mangaluru, Dr Ganesh Mogaveera, programme coordinator of the training programme and head, depatment of Civil Engineering were present during the inaugural Ceremony.

Dr G L Easwara Prasad, principal, MITE, presided over the function and delivered a presidential remarks emphasized the importance of NBA accreditation and then highlighted the participation of faculty in NBA process.

In the training programme, faculty from VTU affiliated Engineering institutions are participating. This training programme will be a great opportunity for technical institution faculty fraternity to understand the 'Outcome based Education' (OBE) model, since it is being adopted at faster pace in Engineering Colleges in India. It is considered as huge jump forward to improve technical education in India and help Indian engineers to compete with their global counterparts.
