Puttur, Dec 30: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, said that Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math had played a role in making sure that the Supreme Court's final verdict on Ayodhya dispute favoured Hindus.
He paid glowing tributes to the Swamiji who has departed on his journey to the abode of the divine, at a programme of Bhajans organized at Hanumagiri temple here on Sunday December 29.
"The volunteers who had gathered at Ayodhya on December 6, 1992, demolished the structure standing there. Thereafter, a meeting of top RSS leaders was held. The meeting felt that if the building is left as it is, it might result in future problems as the government can build the structure to its original shape again.
On the other hand, there were chances of President's Rule being imposed by unseating the government of Uttar Pradesh then. In view of these strong possibilities, it was decided to build a small shrine for Lord Ram at the site, and with the help of volunteers, a small shrine was built. Pejawar Swamiji installed an idol of Ram Lalla that was existing there since long," he explained.
