Doha, Sep 16: Konkani Speaking Community of the Church of our Lady of Rosary organized a Noven Jevann on Thursday 10th September 2009 at 7.00 p.m. at the Seraphic hall of the Church. The evening began with a welcome note from the President of the Konkani Speaking Community Joe Carvallo. The chief guest of the evening Rev.Fr.Peter the newly appointed Parish Priest in his message that he was extremely happy to see the Konkani speaking community in large numbers attending the novenas, the guest of honor Rev.Fr.Andrew Leo D’souza said he overwhelmed by the participation of the congregation during the services of the 9 days and was happy to be in Doha for the celebration.
A short cultural programme was organized for the evening which included a group song from the little children, adults, and a solo song about Mother Theresa was sung by Edward Roshan D’souza. A short Konkani play written and directed by Vivi bondel “Kai Assa Mujoo Kujnear?” kept the crowd happy with its rib tickling comedy. Neri Alphonso, Della Rego, Vincent Lobo, Joyce Periera and Vivian D’souza were the actors. The gathering had the festive dinner after which Ronald Vaz conducted the Bingo followed by the vote of thanks from Amitha D’souza. Edward Sequeira compered the programme.
The evening was sponsored by Jerald D’mello and Pirgeenth Alfred Sequeira. The Konkani speaking committee under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Gasper with representatives from the Goan and Mangalorean Community has Joe Carvalho, Richard Cardozo, Rosario D’cunha, Judyline Dias, Maria Santhimanyo, Amitha D’souza, Walter D’silva, Ronald Vaz, Vincent Lobo and Vivian D’souza.
