Mangalore, Sep 16: For the successful organizing of the 'Vishwamangala Gau-Grama Yatra' being undertaken all over the country with the aim of saving the cows and conserving the rural-centric culture, a preparatory meet was organized at Sri Lakshminarasimha Kalyana Mantap, Madikeri, as per the directions of Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, southern province Karyavaha of Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh, on Tuesday September 15.
Sanghchalak from Madikeri, Maccharanna Manikaryapa, Kodagu District Yatra Reception Committee president K S Devaiah, coordinator Chi Na Somesh and divisional coordinator Vinay L Shetty were present.
Addressing those present, Prabhakar Bhat noted that there has been a large-scale exodus of youngsters from rural places to the cities because of the attractions offered by the hi-tech culture. At the same time, cows that are worshipped as mothers as per the Indian culture, are on the wane because of slaughter. The Yatra is aimed at saving the cows and urging the government to enforce ban on cow slaughter in the country, he said.
Various committees relating to the Yatra were formed. The Yatra is set to begin on the Vijaya Dashami day this year and conclude on Makara Sankranti day. The Yatra also aims at pooling public opinion in favour its objectives by collecting 50 crore signatures and conducting chariot processions.
