Mangaluru, Dec 23: Christmas is the season when joy, greetings are exchanged, gifts are given and families get together. Christmas is the festival which inspires the spirit of sharing and caring.
Soaking in the spirit of Christmas, St Aloysius ITI, here, celebrated the festival on December 23.
On the occasion, a carol singing competition was arranged for the students who participated enthusiastically. The judges for the competition were Rachel D’Souza and Deeraj Lobo.
The formal programme commenced with a prayer conducted by Sewing Technology students. Roshan D’Souza, principal extended a cordial welcome to the gathering. The programme was presided over by Fr Cyril D’Mello SJ, director of the institution. Alwyn Menezes, vice-principal and Noel Lobo, training officer were also present on the dais.
John D’Souza- Junior Training Officer delivered a speech on the history of Christmas celebration. Students of MMV-Ist set the mood for Christmas by singing Christmas carols. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the carol singing competition. The first prize was won by MMV-Ist and second prize by Sewing Tech. The third prize was jointly awarded to Electrician II and MRAC-Ist. Consolation prizes were given to all the participants.
In the presidential address, Fr Cyril D’Mello SJ, director of the institution said, “The festival signifies the spirit of sharing and caring, hence we have to share and care for others. We have to show love to everyone around us irrespective of caste and creed. This world needs love more than anything else." He wished everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year."
Dorin Snehaprabha proposed the vote of thanks. Vincent Mendonsa compered the programme. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. Christmas cake was distributed to everyone.
