Dubai, Sep 11: All Pangalites residing in the UAE celebrated Nativity Feast (Monthi Fest) on 10th September 2009, at Richmond Hotel Apartments, Dubai in a homely atmosphere attended by more than 120 Pangalites and friends.
The celebration began at 9.15 pm with a warm welcome by Clevin D’Souza, Cultural Secretary of Emirates Pangalites followed by prayer song by Ignatius, Suman, Thelma, Renita & Veena, and Gospel reading by Merlyn Castelino. Children showered flowers to mother Mary as the gathered sang “ Sokkod Sangatha Melyam ani Moreyek Hogolshiyam”. Novem was distributed along with sweets to all gathered.
Jovin D’Souza, President of Emirates Pangalites gave a formal welcome to the Guest of Honor Joseph Mathias, MD, Merit Freight Systems LLC, Walter Nandalike, Editor in Chief of Daijiworld.com, Dayan D’Souza, Founder President of Daiji Dubai and Daiji Rang Mandir and to all the guests.
Joseph Mathias gave a message on the importance and significance of Monthi Fest and celebrating the Fest together as a family.
Mickey Castelino, Founder President and Advisor of Emirates Pangalites briefed about Emirates Pangalites and their future program’s and asked all Pangalites to become the member of Emirates Pangalites and support in their future activities.
Dayan D’Souza gave a brief introduction of Daijiworld weekly and the importance of Media in today’s changing world.
The crowd was then divided into four groups and a variety of group games were conducted. In between a cine dance by Demitra Castelino followed by a Konkani song from Ryan. Spot prizes and games were conducted by Joel. The Whole nights programme was compared by Cultural Secretary Clevin D’Souza and was assisted by Joel Quadras.
A traditional vegetarian meal prepared by Jacky’s Star Restaurant, and was served on banana leaves including Vorn and Pathrade.
The programme was concluded with the distribution of prizes and vote of thanks by Joel Quadras.
